Popcorn Kickoff - August 27
Popcorn Kernels, don't miss the 2008 Popcorn Kickoff at 7 PM on Wednesday, August 27 at Northwest Christian Church, 1340 Fishinger Road in Upper Arlington. Each unit will receive a "kickoff-in-a-box" package that will include the NEW and improved cornhead, a big banner, military posters, sale posters, den goal posters, balloons, and a DVD to help make your unit kickoff a success!


Den Chief Training - August 23
Did you know that a Cub Scout is more likely to continue into Boy Scouting if he has had a Den Chief to help guide him? Learn the responsibilities of a Den Chief, the benefits of having a Den Chief, and how a Den Chief can be a great recruiting tool by attending Den Chief Training on August 23. Cubmasters, Scoutmasters, and Scouts who are First Class or higher are invited to attend. Reservations were required by August 11.

Green Bar Begins September 13
Green Bar, enhanced training for Boy Scout leaders, begins on September 13! Get registered NOW so you don't miss out. Green Bar offers all of the basic training modules designated for Scoutmasters, Assistant Scoutmasters, and Troop Committee members. Webelos leaders and interested parents are also invited to attend.

Cub Scout Roundtable - September 4
On September 4, Buckeye District is unveiling a whole new Cub Scout Roundtable and it will be like nothing you've seen before in the history of our district!

Each month you will choose two courses to attend from a selection of several options. There will be something for everyone, no matter what your leadership position. Every month will be like a mini-version of University of Scouting!

September's classes are: Pack Record Keeping, Pack Finances, Planning for a Successful Den Year, Recruiting Volunteers, Planning for a Successful Webelos Year, and Geocaching.

Cub Scout Leader Training - Sept, Oct, Nov
Cub Scout leaders, get on the road to success by attending Cub Scout Basic Leader Training this fall! The Buckeye District training team will offer 5 sessions for you to choose from so that you can get trained for your leadership position.

Frontier Olympiad Camporee
October 17-19, 2008
Troops and Venturing Crews, mark your calendar for the Buckeye District "Frontier Olympiad" Camporee, October 17 -19, 2008 at Otter Run Scout Camp. Test your patrol's skills against other Buckeye District units at the Quadrennial Olympics. Events will include Orienteering, Geocaching, Scout Skills and more. Come see if you are a GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE winner! Bulletin #2 is now available.

Catholic Committee on Scouting
2008-09 Programs
One of the points in the Boy Scout Law is "A Scout is Reverent". To help accomodate a Scout in being reverent, the Diocese of Columbus Catholic Committee on Scouting offers many programs throughout the year for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.

Area 4 Venturing 10th Anniversary Camporee
All Crews & Ships are invited to participate in the Venturing 10th Anniversary Camporee on October 17-19 at Camp Birch in Southwest Ohio. The camporee will feature many hands-on activities, fall adventure, fellowship and celebration.

2010 National Jamboree
Plans are underway for Simon Kenton Council to participate in the Boy Scout Centennial Jamboree on July 26 through August 4, 2010 at Ft. A.P. Hill, Virginia. SKC will be forming FIVE troops of 36 youth each. Registration is online.
